I like working at the intersection of higher education and industry. Folks in higher education know their research and data; those in industry know what they need but are not quite sure how best to find what they are looking for. This is especially true for corporate recruiters and university recruiting specialists when it comes to finding student demographics for university engineering and engineering technology programs.
The best kept secret for recruiters is to leverage the student demographic data collected by the American Society for Engineering Education (ASEE).
Each year, ASEE surveys over 370 ABET-accredited U.S. and Canadian universities with engineering and engineering technology programs collecting enrollment, degree and demographics information for their students. And, it’s publicly available.
Check out this short video presentation in which I step you through how to mine ASEE engineering student data to support university recruiting (download slides).
